Pé firme leve dança
que o saber seja adulto
mas o brincar de criança.

Art, Truth & Politics
Vale a pena ler, ou ouvir, o discurso do dramaturgo britânico Harold Pinter, de 7 de Dezembro de 2005, dia em que foi galardoado com o Prémio Nobel da Literatura.
[fotografia: www.haroldpinter.org]
"In 1958 I wrote the following:
'There are no hard distinctions between what is real and what is unreal, nor between what is true and what is false. A thing is not necessarily either true or false; it can be both true and false.'
I believe that these assertions still make sense and do still apply to the exploration of reality through art. So as a writer I stand by them, but as a citizen I cannot. As a citizen I must ask: What is true? What is false?
[...]
Political language, as used by politicians, does not venture into any of this territory since the majority of politicians, on the evidence available to us, are interested not in truth but in power and in the maintenance of that power. To maintain that power it is essential that people remain in ignorance, that they live in ignorance of the truth, even the truth of their own lives. What surrounds us therefore is a vast tapestry of lies, upon which we feed.
[...]
I believe that despite the enormous odds which exist, unflinching, unswerving, fierce intellectual determination, as citizens, to define the real truth of our lives and our societies is a crucial obligation which devolves upon us all. It is in fact mandatory.
If such a determination is not embodied in our political vision we have no hope of restoring what is so nearly lost to us - the dignity of man."

It's just a ride...
The world is like a ride in an amusement park and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and around and around and it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud. And it's fun - for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question; is this real? Or is this just a ride?

Já vi The Corporation, Rescue Dawn, Atonement e Into the Wild. Excelentes... Já 4 luni, 3 saptamani si 2 zile (que em 2007 arrecadou a Palma de Ouro em Cannes) não me encheu as medidas... Persepolis estreia no dia 21 deste mês. I'm Not There chega a 27 de Março...

E, quando for possível, No End in Sight, e Persepolis...
Enquanto novas ordens mundias vão sendo engendradas, sinto a saudade ao som de Pride, o álbum de Phosphorescent, e de This Time Tomorrow, de The Kinks...
